We think OUTSIDE the box
At DALA we have a reputation for delivering fresh, new approaches to shaping "rock, soil, plants, and water". Our clients think of it as our creativity. But the right design solution must also be shaped by the realities of the site and the market. That is our practical side. Our goal is to create exceptional places that meet the needs of the environment, the client, the user, and the market.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create THRIVING, REGENERATIVE and RESILIENT outdoor places. We utilize a design process that is informed by SCIENCE and inspired by ART. We incorporate solid SITE PLANNING with the principles of COMMUNITY OUTREACH, STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLANNING, and NATIVE PLANT DESIGN to create environments that RESPECT NATURE and NURTURE PEOPLE. We have a reputation of creating visions that inspire as well as plans that work.

The Client Relationship
The main driver of any project is our client's objectives.
To achieve these objectives, we create working relationships based upon trust, open communication and mutual respect.
Of course, we always listen to the client's desires; but we also provide leadership and guidance by not always saying, "yes."
This kind of working relationship results in our very best work and the creation of plans certain to achieve our client's goals.

Our Role as part of the design team
Landscape Architects use a process of investigation, analysis, design and implementation to create outdoor places that enhance the natural environment and nurture the people that utilize them. Our goal is to create places that THRIVE.
We start with the science of investigation. We inventory all the elements that can affect the project in order to understand the site, the code, the community and the client. We then delve into the science of analysis in order to determine how all these disparate elements can be organized to create a successful design. We use that analysis as the basis for the art of the design. As the design develops, we use the sieve of our investigation and analysis to hone in on a solution that meets the needs of the client and projected user while protecting and enhancing the site and surrounding environment.
But a project must be built to be successful, so our role then turns to implementation of the design. We create thorough and accurate construction plans and specifications, we strive to meet budgetary requirements set out by our clients, we assist through bidding process and we observe and review the installation of the design through construction.
What is so exciting about practicing Landscape Architecture is that it is a diverse field that contains aspects of horticulture, engineering, architecture, public relations, sociology, business, science and art. Landscape Architects understand the complexities of the site: its topography, hydrology, solar exposure, soil characteristics, vegetation, climate, geology, wetlands, as well as the cultural and social aspects of its users. The result is a unique design that becomes a beloved place.
